Neighborhood Information
Basel street is a long street in the Old North of Tel Aviv. It leads from Dizengoff street to Ibn Gvirol street and is 650 Sqm long. It is named after the city of Basel in which the first Zionist Congress was held- “The Basel Congress”. In this complex,” Bonnie Ha’Ir “Square is surrounded by a number of buildings, including the Magen David Adom station, doctors’ house, the Marom Basel residential tower in the past, the central fire station of Tel Aviv and a parking lot for trucks. The parking lot and the fire station were moved to the northern end of Ibn Gabirol Street, and the complex was developed and on its southern side (Basel Street) and on the east (Rehatshaturi HaParhi), cafes, bakeries, restaurants and unique shops were opened. On Dizengoff Street, close to the intersection of Basel Street and Tel Aviv’s Lev Tel Aviv police station, the Egyptian Embassy is located on the other side of the street, opposite Ibn Gvirol Street. The street was planned in the 1930s and was built mainly in the 1940s and 1950s.
